This artwork is our common work with Xavier Escala.

Xavier Escala: "It´s my tribute of respect and devotion to feminine power—an energy that my own masculinity must reconcile with and embrace in balance. I was inspired by the beauty of the artist Nina Murashkina to carve the wooden sculpture, which serves as the structural shell for a ceramic polyptych conceived by Murashkina herself."

In this way, the piece simultaneously reveals the outer and inner worlds of a single being, as each artist reflects herself—echoing Leonardo da Vinci’s idea that every creation is, in essence, a self-portrait.

Another source of inspiration is the medieval sculptural typology of the Shrine madonna—a form that disappeared in the early 15th century. Now, 500 years later, I revisit the path laid by those anonymous artists, not with nostalgia, but by engaging with a symbol that continually renews itself through lived experience.
